SOD Create: Code Families and House Style

SOD Create is a Japanese adult video production company known for variety-show and documentary-style formats rather than conventional scripted scenes. Its best-known numbering line now runs under the START prefix, which succeeded STARS and before that STAR, alongside several SD-prefixed series lines.

SOD Create is the outlier among the major Japanese adult video producers, and it is an outlier on purpose. Checked 2026-08-03 against SOD's own new-release listing and FANZA product records. The line descriptions above are taken from the label names SOD and FANZA actually attach to each prefix, not from inference: SDJS is filed under the SOD female-employee label, SDNM under the genuine-married-woman label, SDMM under the Magic Mirror label, SDDE under SENZ and SDAB under a youth-themed label. STARS reached 999 in February 2024 and START-001 shipped the following month under the same SOD star label — a numbering reset rather than a new line.

SOD also publishes a list of the makers it handles, which extends well beyond SOD Create's own lines — Natural High, ROCKET, Sadistic Village and FALENO all appear on it.

Reading rules:

Parallel prefixes are normal here. Several SD lines are active at once; they are series queues, not competing studios.
Numbers are prefix-local. STARS-500 and SDNM-500 have no relationship.
Series lines outlive main-line changes. An SD series can keep numbering straight through a STAR-to-STARS style transition on the flagship line.

What does the SOD Create house style actually look like?

How do you find more titles from the same SOD format?

Search the prefix, not the label. Because SOD organises by format, the prefix is an unusually good proxy for "more of exactly this". Searching "SOD" returns the whole group; searching a specific SD prefix returns one format's run.

Two caveats. First, some formats have run long enough to change presentation substantially between early and late entries, so a number from one end of the run may not resemble the other. The correct phrasing for anything we can say is "titles we have indexed", which is a statement about our crawl rather than about any company's output. A precise release total for a studio, quoted without a source, is nearly always a count of one storefront's listings.

What does the variety format mean for identifying performers?

It makes stills harder to match, and it is worth knowing why. Documentary and on-location shooting produces the conditions face recognition handles worst: uneven lighting, motion blur, extreme angles, partial occlusion from props or hands, and faces at small scale in wide shots.
